Chevy Chase Woman Convicted Of $7M In Health Care Fraud
WASHINGTON (AP) -- A Maryland woman has been convicted of 36 counts involving $7 million in health care fraud.
A federal jury found Jacqueline Wheeler, 54, of Chevy Chase guilty on Friday. She was ordered jailed before sentencing on Oct. 5.
According to the government's evidence, Wheeler was chief executive officer of the Health Advocacy Center Inc. in D.C. Prosecutors say Wheeler submitted false claims for services that were not provided, and used the proceeds to buy four luxury vehicles, two beachfront properties in Florida and her home.
