Chemical Plant In Md. To Close In 2 Years
BALTIMORE (AP) -- State officials say a Maryland chemical plant has announced it's closing in two years, leaving 78 workers without their jobs in that time.
The Baltimore Sun reports that the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation says Millennium Inorganic Chemicals will begin job reductions in July. The reductions will last through the plant's planned closing in December 2013.
The plant makes a chemical used in paint for homes and automobiles. It is a subsidiary of Cristal Global in Saudi Arabia.
It was idled two years ago because of the poor economy.
