Matt Zenitz, who covers the University of Maryland football team for the Baltimore Sun, discusses the match up this week between The Terps and West Virginia. He explains he has heard from several different Maryland coaches and they feel this team is ready to compete. "This game against WVU will gage how good this team really is. The offense last week as a whole was not good and it has to be better going into the game against WVU." He added, "CJ Brown is overthinking and overanalyzing and Coach Randy Edsall said he needs to relax and have fun."
"There could be issues if the pass defense isn't better than it was against South Florida last week," said Zenitz. Terps Coach Randy Edsall also thinks his team is playing hard on defense, but they're still giving up too many big plays. "I will feel a lot better saying how they will be as a whole after tomorrow's game."
Zenitz says the Terps are favored by 3 and the over under is somewhere around 60 and says he can see a 30-27 type game. He adds, "at the same time they are capable of moving the ball consistently and they haven't done that yet" Zenitz says he has seen the numbers for WVU and this is the best they have looked since Geno Smith and Tavon Austin. "I'm curioius to see how the Maryland pass defense holds up against the WVU passing game" said Zenitz.
On the subject of Ray Rice, Zenitz said "with all the good that he has done, all it takes is one thing like this [and] this is what he is going to be defined by, this is what he is going to be known for and hopefully he can make some good out of this going forward."
