Cecil County To Remove Propane After Tanker Crash
PORT DEPOSIT, Md. (AP) -- The Cecil County Department of Emergency Services says crews are preparing to off-load 9,000 gallons of propane from a tanker that crashed into a Port Deposit condominium building after losing its brakes coming down a hill.
James Hamilton, the department's emergency preparedness manager, says officials plan to issue an evacuation order to about 150 residents in the area of the accident on Wednesday morning as a precaution. Hamilton says crews will then begin transferring the propane. He says officials hope to complete the job in about 12 hours, but that residents will be advised that it may take until Thursday morning.
Port Deposit Administrative Assistant Kathy Gray says the crash occurred shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday. The driver was injured, but conscious following the crash.
