CBS Sports Bill Cowher Previews Ravens Vs Steelers

Bill Cowher from The NFL Today joins The Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn and Jason La Canfora to discuss the big rival game this week between the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers. There are division rivals and division games are special, but when it comes to the Ravens and Steelers it appears these two teams standout.  Cowher says, "These are 2 teams that take pride in football.  It didn't take long for these two teams to become rivalries."   Both of these teams need a win to stay in the running for the top of the division.  As it stands right now the Cincinnati Bengals are top seed.

Bill Cowher got the Steelers worked up when he stated a couple weeks ago that they were playing soft.  "It's nothing I wouldn't have said in the play room.  I think we all saw what Baltimore did to this team in week 2.  I think they are going to get better as the season progresses."  The Steelers must have been listening as they have revved up their play.  They beat the Indianapolis Colts 51-34 this past weekend, with Ben Roethlisberger throwing 522 yards and 6 touchdowns.

"It will come down to turnovers. They need to run the football."  Turnovers are going to be what makes or breaks this game. "The identity of these two teams is their offenses," states Cowher.  "I think Baltimore has gotten back to it from week 1."  Joe Flacco has been a very successful quarterback for the Ravens. When asked his take on the player he is Cowher stated, "I think he's a very good quarterback. He's got cannon of an arm; he's a very good leader." Cowher goes on to say, "I think like a lot of teams they need the running game.  They have a trio of running backs that they can go to."

Scott has said all season he completely disagrees with the way the schedule is.  The Ravens are done with the Bengals and will be finished with the Steelers after this weekend and it is only the beginning of November. The only division game left is against the Browns in their very last game. Cowher said he isn't sure what went on with the scheduling as "some teams haven't even played a divisional game yet."

The synopsis for this game according to Cowher is, "I think it's a much bigger game for Baltimore, because they have already lost to Cincinnati twice.  They have to win this game."  As far as the rivalry between these two teams, he states, "They respect each other, but don't like each other."
