Reward Offered For Information On Cat Shot With Pellet Gun

BALTIMORE (WJZ) - Charles County Police are investigating an animal cruelty case in La Plata.

A cat was found by it's owner visibly injured, and at first thought to be hit by a car. When the owner took the cat to the emergency animal clinic, doctors discovered it had been shot with a high-powered pellet gun.

The cat's leg was shattered and eventually needed to be amputated. The cat, named Maximus, is still being treated at the clinic.

Maximus was found by a park police officer when he was a kitten after he jumped into the officer's car while she was on call. The officer kept the kitten after no one claimed him, and she and her 10-year old daughter have taken care of Maximus ever since.

Charles County Crime Solvers is now offering a cash reward up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
