Cardin To Deliver Keynote Address At Conference
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Sen. Ben Cardin, D-Md., will deliver the keynote address for the Black Engineer of the Year Award luncheon.
University of Maryland Baltimore County President Freeman Hrabowski III will be honored with the award for 2013 Black Engineer of the Year.
The Friday luncheon is part of a three-day conference aimed at celebrating African Americans in the fields of science, technology, engineering and technology, known collectively as STEM.
Organizers say that the conference will draw Fortune 500 executives, military leaders and high-ranking government officials who understand the value of increasing the number of young people and minorities entering STEM careers.
The event will be held at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington.
