Cardin On Bay Restoration Panel Discussion
OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) -- Sen. Ben Cardin will be in Ocean City this week discussing Chesapeake Bay restoration efforts.
The Maryland lawmaker says he plans to participate in a panel discussion on Thursday at the Maryland Association of Counties annual summer conference. The panel will discuss local and federal support for efforts to restore the bay.
Shawn Garvin, the mid-Atlantic regional administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, is also scheduled to participate on the panel.
The discussion will focus on the second phase of the EPA-led bay strategy. The second phase includes strategies on the local level by the six states in the bay watershed and the District of Columbia to meet restoration goals.
Cardin is chairman of the Senate subcommittee on Water and Wildlife.
