3 Injured After SUV Drives Into CVS Pharmacy In Downtown Baltimore
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The driver of an SUV loses control and crashes into a pharmacy in the heart of downtown Baltimore. Multiple people are injured.
Meghan McCorkell spoke to people caught up in the chaos.
Three people were injured inside the store when the SUV came crashing through the wall.
Chaos breaks out downtown as an SUV flies over a curb and careens right through a CVS store.
"I thought I was going to die. I really did," said Vanessa Vaughn.
She had just gotten off the bus and was walking on Light Street when the Mercury Mountaineer missed her by inches.
Vaughn says she and her co-worker were huddled right next to a mailbox when the SUV came crashing through.
"We just stood right there and just hold our eyes and we're just praying that we didn't get hit," she said.
Witnesses say the SUV was involved in an accident with a cab on Light Street near Lombard Street when the driver lost control.
"He cut from that lane and just hit me on the side and just flew right into the CVS," said cab driver Samuel Beyene.
Security guard Kenny Johnson saw the crash from across the street and ran into the CVS to help.
"There was a lady against the wall with the racks on top of her," Johnson said. "So we pulled her off the racks and pulled her out."
Two other people inside the store were also injured.
Friday night, crews worked to seal up the massive hole in the side of the store. This, as Vanessa Vaughn still tries to calm her nerves.
"I can't even go to sleep right now because I just see the car," she said.
Her thoughts are now with those who were injured. Police say a female customer suffered a shoulder injury, a male customer hurt his neck and leg and a 17-year-old suffered minor back injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. There's no word if charges will be filed.
