Candlelight Vigil Planned In Phylicia Barnes' Memory
BALTIMORE (AP) -- A last candlelight vigil is being held to honor the memory of a North Carolina teen whose body was found in a river nearly four months after she disappeared in Maryland.
The vigil is planned for 7 p.m. Thursday at the Reisterstown Square Apartments, the place where Phylicia Barnes, 16, was last seen alive in December. Her body was pulled last week from the Susquehanna River after being spotted by workers at the Conowingo Dam.
Authorities have not yet determined how Barnes died. Police have not found any links between Barnes and a Virginia man whose body was found in the river three miles away on the same day.
Barnes' family asks the community to bring purple and white candles to light in Phylicia's honor.
