Buck Showalter On The Orioles Off-Season
Manager of the Baltimore Orioles, Buck Showalter, joined Ed and Steve to discuss the latest new and notes around the Orioles off-season.
Steve asked Buck about the comments he made yesterday on Chris Davis potentially not signing until March. Buck noted that Davis' camp has yet to budge, "that's the way his camp wants it. They don't want me talking to him. We have the ability to stay with it or walk away. When it happens, it happens. Its not going to keep me from putting this club together."
Ed asked Buck how the Orioles assess the way foreign players will translate to the MLB. Buck acknowledged that it isn't an exact science, "there's not some prediction model out there, but your eyeballs do tell you some things. There are certain things that always translate. When you look at the history of korean position players they have a pretty good track record."
Buck went on to discuss the Orioles mini camp for pitchers, whether the orioles new signing Hyun-soo Kim can be an everyday outfielder for the club, and his thoughts on the inclusion of opt out clauses in player contracts.
