Buck Showalter On The Development Of Kevin Gausman
Buck Showalter is the current Manager of the defending AL East Champion Baltimore Orioles.
Buck joined Ken and Steve to talk about the upcoming All-Star break and possible Orioles roster moves.
Buck started off by talking about the ESPN article about him being the 2nd best manager in baseball Buck said "our PR people made me aware of it...I enjoy dealing with the players and media, I appreciate it and am thankful."
As for how it was when he was in New York and if being in the media changed the way he handles them Buck said "I can't really say, personally I think I'm the same guy I was 100 years ago but that's probably not right...you treat people like you'd like to be treated and that usually works."
...on Kevin Gausman being sent down due to the All Star break Buck said "we're trying to win baseball games which is the number one most important thing and we think Kevin can do that...he has to keep his innings going, it's actually Kevin's idea as much as it is ours because he doesn't want to sit around for 7 or 8 days."
Buck also talked about whether or not the Gausman moves have hindered his development, and about how they listen to all sides of every argument in the front office.
