Brother Stabbed Breaking Up Fight On Thanksgiving
BALTIMORE (WJZ) ―The victim was just trying to break up an argument when he was stabbed on Thanksgiving day.
Weijia Jiang has a brother's shocking confession and reaction to the crime.
On the 4400 block of Baltimore's Belvieu Avenue, police say a family gathering on Thanksgiving turned deadly at the hands of 68-year-old Harry Patterson Jr.
Court papers reveal Patterson and his wife were having an argument. His younger brother tried to break it up, sparking a second fight between the two brothers.
"It escalated. The suspect retrieved a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim," said Det. Kevin Brown, Baltimore police.
The victim, 59 year old Robin Patterson lived in the house where the tragedy unfolded. Outside, his work truck is still parked. Robin Patterson was well known for his moving and hauling business.
"For this neighborhood, a pretty well controlled neighborhood. You don't have a whole lot of violence and this right here is a hard blow," said Clarence Camp, neighbor.
Neighbors say the victim lived with his wife and two kids. They say family members would visit often, and they can't imagine what went wrong.
"He was always attentive," said Sean Dorsey, victim's friend. "He always had an ear, always lent a hand. That's just the way he was."
Dorsey was a child when he first met Robin Patterson, a man he says looked after him for decades.
"It hurt; it hurt cause it was close to home," Dorsey said. "He was a good man. He didn't deserve that. All we can do right now is mourn and pray for him, pray for his family. That's what I'm doing."
As the family grieves, they await another loved one's fate. Harry Patterson faces a long list of charges, including first-degree murder.
Police say Harry Patterson admitted to stabbing his brother during an interview. He's scheduled to appear in court in late December.
Police say no one but the victim was injured during the fight.
