Boston University Routs UMBC
BOSTON (AP) -- Darryl Partin tallied 17 points to lead 11 Boston University scorers in the Terriers' 82-48 rout of Maryland-Baltimore County Tuesday night.
Twelve players saw action for the Terriers (11-11, 7-1 America East Conference), who got 10 points from Travis Robinson.
BU, which held opponents to 54.2 points per game throughout its last six, won its seventh in a row.
The Terriers outrebounded UMBC 45-28 and scored 21 second-chance points.
Leading 39-22 at halftime, BU opened the second half with a 10-2 run. D.J. Irving capped the spurt with a pair of free throws and a 3-pointer to put the Terriers ahead 49-24 with 16:20 to go.
The Retrievers shot just 29.6 percent after halftime (8 of 27).
BU stretched its lead to as many as 37 three times.
Chase Plummer scored 17 points and Jamar Wertz 12 for the Retrievers (3-17, 2-6), who lost seven of their last eight.
