BOSTON MARATHON RUNNERS JOIN SCOTT AND JEREMY
A survivor of the 2013 Boston Marathon attacks, Erica Brannick was unable to participate in the 2014 Marathon. However her mother, Carol Downing, took her place in the event and ran in honor of Erica and all those who were victims of the attack last year. On Tuesday Scott and Jeremy were privileged to be joined by Erica and Carol for a quick interview.
Scott asked Carol how they both were feeling after what was expected to be a physically and emotionally draining weekend. Carol kept it simple. "It was actually a great weekend, it was a lot of healing on all levels for us. It was great to be back in the city, great to have my family there standing there at the finish line for me. I didn't do as well as I wanted to, but I accomplished my goal."
Eric gave some input on what it was like for her to return to a site where she was injured only a year later. "Like I said before I was kind of expecting nothing but preparing for everything. I mean I think we went through every single emotion that we could possibly go through. My being able to go down to the site prior to marathon Monday and cross the finish line before that kind of helped me prepare to be there yesterday."
And Erica left us with this simple message of how she was feeling. "I was smiling ear to ear all day, and it was probably the best I felt all year."
