Bolton Hill Robbery Victim Speaks To WJZ
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Residents of the historic Baltimore neighborhood Bolton Hill are on edge after two armed robberies in two weeks. One victim speaks to Eyewitness News.
Adam May has the gripping interview and the latest from police.
That man recalls an hour of terror. He's now concerned about a second robbery and didn't want to be identified.
"I was getting my stuff out of my car and these guys said hi to me. The next thing I know, he says `Hey' and `Get down on the floor,'" he said.
The Bolton Hill resident tells WJZ about the moment his life flashed before his eyes, lying in the road outside his Bolton Hill home.
"Then he said, `I'm gonna kill you. Give me your wallet. I'm not playing.' I said, `I don't have it. It's in the house,'" he said. "So at gunpoint, he makes me go in the house. He took the wallet. So then he went into the bathroom with me at gunpoint and started stealing sweaters and clothes out of the closet."
Then the two robbers forced him back into his car.
"Then they start driving around to ATM machines. I was so nervous, I put in $1,000. They wouldn't let me take $1,000," he said. "I couldn't find a clear button. They got nervous, said `Stop playing games; get in the car.'"
Eventually the criminals were caught on surveillance camera pictures, using the man's ATM card and pin number.
"The whole time, my head is down on the floor in the backseat," he said. "I didn't think I was gonna live."
After an hour, it ended.
"And he says, `Get out the car' and I'm like, `Don't kill me, don't kill me.' I jump over the guard rail. I turn around and they sped away," he said.
Unfortunately, this isn't the only recent armed robbery in Bolton Hill. Another happened early Tuesday morning. In the 1200-block of Park Avenue, a man was robbed at gunpoint by four men. Police are looking to see if the crimes are connected.
"The best thing is keep the peace and do everything they say so you don't get them angry and use that as an excuse to shoot you," he said.
Police have increased patrols in the neighborhood. So far, there are no suspects in either robbery.
Metro Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
