Bob Haynie: Vegas Not Buying The Orioles

According to the website Rantsports.com, the folks in Las Vegas don't think that the Baltimore Orioles will duplicate their magical season of 2012.

Last year, the Vegas sports books had the Orioles win total at 69.5. Of course, the Birds won 93 games and made the playoffs for the first time in 15 years.

For the record, I picked the under. Once again, I was wrong.

While expectations may be high down in Baltimore's spring training home of Sarasota, the experts in Nevada aren't as optimistic.

This season, the sports book people have set the total wins for the Orioles at 76.5.

I'm going to go ahead and pick the over.

I will make my official baseball predictions once April hits. But, for now, I will say that I believe that manager Buck Showalter will be leading a club that will finish with a record above .500.

Since the Orioles didn't make any fancy moves in the offseason, some figure that they will fall in the standings as teams like the Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays get most of the attention and the wins.

Don't sleep on the Baltimore Orioles. There is plenty of talent on this team and, after tasting the playoff experience, the players are focused on playing in October.

Let's see what this team looks like on Opening Day before we dismiss them as a one season fluke.
