Bob Haynie: Revisiting My Preseason Baseball Picks
Late in March, I made my predictions for the 2013 Major League Baseball season. I was feeling good, at the time, about my selections. Now that the season is past it's midway point, let's see how things are looking.
Listed first will be my preseason pick. In parentheses will be the team's actual place in the standings as of 7-9-13.
AL East
1) Orioles (3)
2) Rays (2)
3) Blue Jays (5)
4) Red Sox (1)
5) Yankees (4)
AL Central
1) Tigers (1)
2) Royals (3)
3) White Sox (5)
4) Indians (2)
5) Twins (4)
AL West
1) Angels (3)
2) Rangers (2)
3) A's (1)
4) Mariners (4)
5) Astros (5)
NL East
1) Nationals (2)
2) Braves (1)
3) Phillies (3)
4) Mets (4)
5) Marlins (5)
NL Central
1) Reds (3)
2) Cardinals (1)
3) Pirates (2)
4) Brewers (5)
5) Cubs (4)
NL West
1) Giants (4)
2) Dodgers (2)
3) Diamondbacks (1)
4) Padres (5)
5) Rockies (3)
As you can see, teams like the Orioles, Angels, Nats and Giants have some work to do. I picked the Nationals and Angels to meet in the World Series.
That pick is not looking so good.
There is, however, plenty of baseball to be played.
