Bob Haynie: A Weekend Filled With Sports Fun
Memorial Day weekend is upon us and there is no shortage of sports entertainment for we fanatics.
I'll be following the Orioles as they take on the Blue Jays in Toronto. Kevin Gausman made his big league debut on Thursday night and the young righty didn't perform poorly. He looks like a keeper, as a matter of fact.
Unfortunately, the Birds lost to Jays 12-6 as the bullpen imploded. The Orioles have been scuffling lately. Winning the series in Toronto isn't imperative, but it would sure help the cause if they did.
The NBA Playoffs will be on my television, as well. The Spurs will look to put the Grizzlies on the brink of elimination while the Heat and Pacers resume their series. Indiana blew a golden opportunity to steal a game in Miami, but a defensive lapse allowed LeBron James to score at the buzzer.
Enjoy what you are watching with James. He is already one of the top five players in NBA history. When it is all said and done, he may finish his career as the best ever.
On Saturday night, I'll be tuned to HBO for the IBF/WBA super middleweight unification bout between Carl Froch and Mikkel Kessler. Kessler handed Froch his first loss back in 2010 via unanimous decision in Denmark. With Saturday's fight in Froch's beloved UK, I have a feeling he will exact his revenge in what should be an exciting fight.
There is much more on the sporting schedule. I'm sure everyone will find something they like.
