Bob Borngesser, Retired Anchor At WHAG-TV, Dies
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- WHAG-TV says Bob Borngesser, who anchored the news during the 1980s and `90s, has died.
The station says Borngesser, 79, died Wednesday at his home after a long battle with cancer.
Borngesser joined WHAG in 1979 after working as an NBC correspondent and anchor based in Washington. He also owned a magazine and a flower shop in Hagerstown before joining the station.
WHAG news director Mark Kraham, whom Borngesser hired in 1994, says he was a very talented broadcaster who maintained his composure even during hectic times.
Borngesser retired in 1997 after 18 years as news director and main anchor. He also served as president of the Maryland Theatre Board of Directors.
