Board To Consider Contract For MTA Operations Hub
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Officials are scheduled to consider a $15.4 million contract for a Maryland Transit Administration hub that would allow the agency to consolidate its operations for bus, Metro and light rail in downtown Baltimore.
The contract is set to come before the Board of Public Works on Wednesday.
The new Central Command Center is an important part of the agency's plan to combine and modernize operations to improve customer service and control costs. The MTA currently operates the services from different centers around the city.
MTA Administrator Ralign T. Wells tells The Baltimore Sun that the contract award is a big step toward reaching a goal the MTA set about a decade ago.
