Blowout: Penn State Leaves Terps Scoreless, 59-0

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (WJZ) -- The Penn State Nittany Lions got off to an early lead and never let the Maryland Terrapins answer back.

It was a big build-up to Maryland's Big Ten opener, as long-suffering Terps football fans were enthusiastic about a prime-time opportunity against Penn State.

Adding to the excitement: a sell-out crowd of 50,000, a rarity in College Park.

That energy, though, didn't help the Terps on the field.

In Maryland's opening drive, quarterback Josh Jackson threw the first of two interceptions.

Penn State racked up 14 points in the first quarter and another 24 in the second, giving them a 38-0 lead at the half.

Things didn't improve for the Terps in the second half either; they were left scoreless the entire game.

The final score: Penn State 59, Terps 0.

The loss marks Maryland's second straight defeat after opening with two victories.
