BLOG: What A Beautiful Break In The Weather!
The storm that caused all of our rain and severe weather is still hanging around but has moved up over New England. That's far enough that we saw a lot of sunshine today and temperatures rose up to 82 degrees. Although there are more thunderstorms moving our way this week, much warmer air is coming along with it.
The storm track is re-orienting itself this week. It will cut down out of the Rockies into the Plains and then jut up into New England. That track will have numerous storms running along it. Unlike last week, the storm track will never get cut off, so storms will keep moving. But it is still close enough to us that we will get clipped with rounds of showers and thunderstorms. The other thing about this storm track is that it will be off to the north, so it will keep the flow of really warm and muggy air coming our way out of the south.
Some showers and thunderstorms will pop up later tomorrow, with highs still in the 80s. Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms to linger through Monday with highs still in the 80s. This storm will get out of here by Tuesday, but will quickly be followed by another storm. There will be another round of scattered showers and thunderstorms with highs in the upper 80s. This is the pattern that will continue through the week, so there is a varied chance of thunderstorms developing each and every day. However, these are NOT all day rain makers and there will be a lot more sunshine this week over last week.
ATTENTION TEACHERS AND STUDENTS:
There is still time! Our fourth annual Weather Field Trip Day at Camden Yards is right around the corner. This year, it will be Thursday, May 26. If you are unfamiliar with the program, it's a day full of fun. We start out with an action, graphics-filled weather program on the field that features helpers like Nicole Sherry (head groundskeeper), Chris Strong from the National Weather Service and, of course, the Bird. Then, everyone takes a lunch break before enjoying an afternoon Orioles game.
