BLOG: The Cold Will Return
After a holiday break from the cold, it's moving back into Maryland.
It's a little misleading, but we officially topped out at 60 degrees today. That happened at midnight, and temperatures have been falling since. The winds turned around to the northwest around noon, slowly pushing the rain away and eventually bringing in much cooler air. This is just the first push of colder air this week because an even colder round is coming our way in a few days.
Before we get to that, expect sunshine to return tomorrow although it won't warm us up much. We will start out the day in the 20s and only recover to near 40 degrees. There will be a breeze out of the northwest, making it feel about 5-10 degrees colder. Both the wind and temperatures will die down tomorrow night. Then, a much weaker storm will pass off to our north Tuesday. There will be some clouds from this passing storm, but that looks to be about it. Temperatures will nudge up a few degrees ahead of it before the next wave of cold air takes over behind it.
Highs Wednesday into the weekend will only top out in the 30s. At the same time, there will be another storm moving our way from the northwest Thursday into Friday. This storm will be strengthening as it moves our way, and could possibly give us a little wintry weather since there will be colder air around. We will keep you updated on it as we move through the week. For now, get those big jackets, scarves, gloves and hats out again.
