BLOG: End Of The Year Forecast
Temperatures today will be mostly in the mid and upper-40s (not much different than yesterday). Tonight will be quite chilly under a mostly clear sky, and then tomorrow and New Year's Day will be even milder. Temperatures tomorrow, which will be within a couple of degrees of 50, will be accompanied by no less than partial sunshine. In fact, tomorrow looks as if it'll be the "sunnier" day of the two, and Saturday will feature some early sun that will tend to fade behind increasing clouds. The temperature on some neighborhood thermometers on Saturday afternoon should be in the low and mid-50s, and then the focus of our attention will be turning to a cold front approaching from the west Saturday night and Sunday.
There still could be some rain east of the Appalachians during both of these time periods, but the current thinking is that with a vigorous wave of low pressure in the Plains lifting out to the north and east and into Canada, the best dynamics associated with it will be heading into eastern Canada. Therefore, while there should be a good deal of clouds and possible fog around here on Sunday, the rain that we may get (which some may even consider "just a couple of showers"), will average less than a quarter of an inch.
