BLOG: Calm And Quiet Week Ahead

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful moms and mother figures out there!

And what a beautiful day it was weatherwise. There was a batch of showers that moved through this morning and just a couple of very isolated evening showers spread out across the entire state. Any showers that have popped up this evening will die down tonight.

Otherwise, the sunshine really helped to warm us up. We got all the way to 75 degrees this afternoon. The mild air is going to hang around for most of the week with highs in the mid to upper 70s. At the same time, we are going to get wedged between a storm stuck over the middle of the country and one just off shore. Other than times of clouds and an isolated late day shower in the middle of the week, this is generally going to be a calm and quiet week weatherwise around here.

The storm over the middle of the country will eventually start moving east late this week. When it does, it will bring showers back into the Mid-Atlantic. We think that should start happening Friday into the weekend, but will pinpoint the timing better as we get closer.

 ATTENTION TEACHERS AND STUDENTS:

There is still time! Our fourth annual Weather Field Trip Day at Camden Yards is right around the corner. This year, it will be Thursday, May 26. If you are unfamiliar with the program, it's a day full of fun. We start out with an action, graphics-filled weather program on the field that features helpers like Nicole Sherry (head groundskeeper), Chris Strong from the National Weather Service and, of course, the Bird. Then, everyone takes a lunch break before enjoying an afternoon Orioles game.
