BLOG: Beer In The Clubhouse?
So much has been discussed about the Red Sox clubhouse antics that allegedly contributed to their historic meltdown in September. The particular focus seems to be the fact that beer was consumed during games by players who were not playing that day.
Beer is not the issue, lack of control is the issue. The fact pitchers who were not scheduled to pitch were not in the dugout bothers me. The fact the manager didn't know they were in there drinking and playing video games bothers me more. Beer isn't the issue and I wish all the talking heads would get off of that issue. It's a cautionary tale of what can happen if you let a bunch of highly paid arrested adolescents steer the ship. You end up watching the World Series on tv with the rest of us.
The Rangers are playing the Cardinals, the Red Sox are playing X-Box.
