Blizzard Snarls Traffic On I-68 In Western Md.
FINZEL, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police and highway officials say the westbound lanes of Interstate 68 near Finzel are blocked by tractor-trailers struggling to climb Big Savage Mountain in a blizzard.
A state police dispatcher said Monday night there were no injuries but some vehicles were sideways in the road.
He says six inches of snow have fallen near the Allegany-Garrett county line. The National Weather Service predicts 10 to 14 inches in the area Monday followed by several more inches Tuesday.
The snow is part of Superstorm Sandy, which is causing flooding and power outages across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.
