Biden to Receive Cancer-Fighting Award Named for Late Son
SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) — Vice President Joe Biden will be honored with an award named for his son because of Biden's efforts to push for a cure for cancer.
Beau Biden, the former attorney general of Delaware, died of brain cancer last year.
His father will be in Wilkes-Barre campaigning for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Friday before he goes to nearby Scranton to receive the award at The Commonwealth Medical College.
The Integrated Network Cancer Program is presenting the Beau Biden Award to the vice president because of his Cancer Moonshot Task Force, which works to focus national resources on a cure for cancer. The network is a regional group of hospitals that is also working toward a cure for cancer.
