BGE Reminding Customers To Prepare For Potential Outages
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- BGE is preparing for the worst, as severe weather makes its way to the East Coast Thursday.
Mary Bubala has more on the preparations they're making.
As Maryland braces for the massive storm ahead, the danger is even higher for trees to fall on roadways, power lines and even houses. That's because the ground is already so saturated from Monday's severe storms. Now tree roots are weaker and more vulnerable to high winds.
BGE is closely monitoring the issue.
"We do anticipate outages from this severe weather so we want to make sure our customers are prepared," said Rachael Lighty.
After Monday's storms, a dead tree crushed and killed a 15-year-old boy riding his bike in Montgomery County. It happened in Rock Creek Park. Now officials are warning people to stay away from parks and wooded areas for the coming storm.
"We have crews that are positioned to be working throughout the night," said Lighty.
BGE will be in close touch with state emergency officials as the storm progresses Thursday.
