BGE Crews Make Headway In Restoring Power
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- BGE crews are finally making some significant headway in restoring power in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene.
About 45,000 customers have gotten their power back during the last 24 hours. But that's little consolation for homeowners who have spent nearly a week in the dark.
The problem is the sheer volume of customers who are out. In many places, crews still have to remove fallen trees before BGE can restore electricity.
At last check, about 33,000 homes were still without power. The majority of those are in Anne Arundel and Baltimore Counties.
More than 707,000 people have had their power restored since Hurricane Irene hit Maryland.
