Best Spots For Dinner Theatre In The Baltimore Area

Spice up that ordinary dinner date by attending a dinner theatre in the greater Baltimore area. Broadway shows, murder mysteries and musical productions guarantee to entertain while providing a unique opportunity for local performers.

Two locations nearby allow you to see a variety of amazing productions. Visit the Best Western Hotel in Baltimore to see shows with tiered seating including "Grease," "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" or "The Sound of Music." Head over to the Toby's in Columbia where everyone is guaranteed a spot no more than 30 feet from the stage, with a live orchestra accompanying musicals like "Legally Blonde" and "The Color Purple;" also upcoming is "A Christmas Carol" and "Hot Nostalgia." The buffet offers an assortment of food including turkey breast, pit ham and steamed shrimp. But don't hesitate to peruse the full service bar and dessert bar. Remember to arrive early as doors open at 6 p.m. for evening shows, 5:30 p.m. on Sundays and 10:30 a.m. for matinees.

If fine dining and large stage shows sound exciting, be sure to stop by the Way Off Broadway dinner theater in Frederick. Five major shows are performed each year ranging from "Hairspray" to "Cats" to "The Full Monty." See photos from these and other previous performances on the WOB Facebook page. There are also special events including murder mysteries as well as a Children's Theater where children's stories are performed to entertain the younger crowd. The foot-tapping favorite "Footloose" was shown earlier this year, but you can still look forward to "The Music Man" and "Season's Greetings" throughout the remainder of the year.

Grab a taste of Italy while supporting local actors and musicians. Located at the entrance to the Little Italy neighborhood, Germano's provides entertainment in the form of theater and opera as well as classical, jazz and popular music. The menu includes steaks and seafood in addition to both vegetarian and vegan selections, with pasta made on site. After eating a scrumptious meal, enjoy the show in an intimate setting. Get to know local artists as they perform Thursday through Sunday. Doors open at 6 p.m. for dinner and the shows begin at 7:30 p.m. Early reservations through phone or in person are encouraged.

The home of the Baltimore Actors' Theatre brings the "Best of Broadway" to a quiet area just east of Hunt Valley. Along with a tasteful buffet, each performance is accompanied by live music and includes beautiful costumes, set pieces and large casts. Do you love guessing games? Then put on your thinking cap and visit the Blair Mansion in Silver Spring. The Mystery Dinner Theater acts out different scenarios, from a television show murder to the death of a rock star, where the audience must play detective to determine who the killer is. Come see "Death Warmed Over," "Murder Rocks" and the Halloween event "Grave Matters." Though children age five and under are discouraged from attending, the shows shouldn't kill your appetite for the buffet, with both meat and vegetarian options. Arrive early as doors open at 6 p.m.
