Once a year on March 17, the Irish and the Irish-at-heart across the world celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Irish people are a Celtic nation and cultural group who begin on the island of Ireland. Start the Irish season off Saturday, March 12 for Baltimore's largest Pre-St. Patrick's Day Celebration in Federal Hill. Join over a thousand other Irish-loving brew-drinkers as they submerge Federal Hill and paint the town green via Baltimore Federal Hill St Patrick's Party from 1 to 9 p.m. Look forward to the Strolling bagpiper & leprechaun and tons of free green beads. The Irish band Celtic Woman Destiny World Tour stops at Hippodrome at France-Merrick Performing Arts Center in Baltimore on April 9. Celtic Woman is an all-female Irish musical ensemble. The fifth annual Baltimore Irish Trad Fest is coming on April 22-24. This is the world's finest traditional Irish musicians for Irish teaching workshops and lead sessions. There will be an all-star concert on Saturday evening at the Creative Alliance, musical workshops on Saturday and a tune teach on Sunday. Also, look forward to lead sessions all weekend long. Baltimore's St. Patrick Day Parade takes place Sunday March 13. Baltimore's St. Patrick Parade is truly the jewel in Maryland's emerald crown. For more than 50 years, thousands of spectators from the region have crowded the streets and sidewalks of downtown Baltimore and the famous Inner Harbor to watch thousands march and celebrate Irish culture, music, song and dance. The Parade begins at 2 p.m. sharp at the Washington Monument, proceeds down Charles Street and continues to Pratt Street and Market Place. Please be aware that the Shamrock 5K takes place at 1:15 p.m. immediately before the parade. It is recommend that you get downtown before the start of the race to get the best parking and viewing spot. Keep in mind, The Washington Monument is open to the public on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. and on Saturday & Sunday from 10 a.m to 1 p.m. and 2 to 5 p.m.
