With afternoon, evening and weekend hours, there is always time for skating. Reasonable prices of $4 per person and season passes at only $30 for 10 sessions make this an affordable way to get out of the house and spend some quality time on the ice. Skate rental is also available for $2. This ice rink is an inexpensive venue for private parties.

Conveniently located at the corner of Northern Parkway and Hillen Road, this ice rink is in a popular neighborhood in Baltimore City. Skating hours are on weekday afternoons, a few evenings and weekends. Admission is $4 and skate rental is $2. Olympic ice skater Kimmie Meissner received her first lessons at this location. Although there are no Olympic guarantees, children and adults alike can learn to skate with classes here.

Baltimore City is not the only place for ice skating; the suburbs have some excellent spots as well. The Reisterstown Sportsplex, located in northwest Baltimore County, has a nice 200' x 85' ice rink that has public skating on Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays. It costs $8 to skate and $2 to rent skates. The rink offers skate sharpening for $6. Classes are offered on Monday and Wednesday evenings and on Saturdays. Figure skating lessons are also available.

Harford County boasts an ice rink with seating for 300 spectators. Like Mt. Pleasant, this rink also has an ongoing relationship with world-renowned skater Kimmie Meissner. With lessons for skaters of all levels, this is an excellent place to bring the kids for a fun afternoon of skating. Prices are $7.50 to $8.50, depending on the time, and $3 for skate rental. For people too shy for a group class, there are also private lessons. True skating fans can have a birthday party at Ice World that includes time to skate, pizza and a drink.

The Columbia Ice Rink is located in Howard County, just a stone's throw from Baltimore County. Skate on weekday afternoons, Friday evenings with a DJ and weekends. Admission is $8 and skate rental is $3. Ice rink members with Package Plan Plus or Package Plan can skate free of charge during the public sessions. There are group discounts available as well. Cones and walkers are on hand to keep beginners upright. The pro shop will help with any equipment needs, while the snack bar can fill the tank after skating.
