Creating pottery is a wonderful way to express oneself. Located in the Catonsville area of Baltimore County, The Pottery Cove offers special discounts on various pieces of pottery. Visitors can select their own pottery, paint it, and then pick it up a few days later. All materials are included in the price you pay for the pieces. In additon, the Pottery Cove offers a Kids' Mini Camp as well as special events.

The Pottery Stop and Coffee Shop offers customers daily classes beginning at 10 a.m. Mondays - Fridays, Saturdays at 9 a.m. and Sundays at 11 a.m. Customers can paint their own pottery or participate in a glass fusion class. There is a class to fit all ages and ability levels, from age eight to adult. The cost includes all materials, firing and glazing of pottery. Baltimore Clayworks is perhaps the most well-known of the do-it-yourself pottery shop. The shop offers classes in which participants can paint and fire their works. Located in the Mt. Washington area, Baltimore Clayworks also features exhibitions of student clay works. According to its website, "Baltimore Clayworks is a non-profit ceramic art center that exists to develop, sustain, and promote an artist-centered community that provides outstanding artistic, educational, and collaborative programs in ceramic arts."

Located in Hampden, on The Avenue, Wild Yam Pottery is a quaint little studio which features glazed and fired pots for sale. Classes are available on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays for participants to "throw" a bowl and cup with friends. The pieces you select and create will be fired for you and available within a month's time. Participatory sessions are kept small so that a hands-on approach to learning can be utilized to meet the needs of all attendees. Store hours are daily from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. with extended hours on Fridays.
