Best City Escapes From Baltimore
Annapolis
There are many options on how to spend your day in Annapolis. They have museums (a maritime museum, one devoted to Alex Haley and an archaeology museum among them), theaters (a ballet company, a symphony and an opera house), and tours (cruises, a tour of the Naval Academy and a bike tour).
Charles Town
If you like to gamble, you'll have a great time in Charles Town with the fantastic casino. But even if that isn't your cup of tea, there's a lot to enjoy. There's an opera house, a ghost tour, and every third Thursday, an event held downtown. The event varies based on the time of year; for example, October's featured a zombie band, face painting and a class on carving pumpkins.
Ellicott City
Ellicott City hosts a literary pub crawl the first Thursday of every month (the tour will discuss Edgar Allan Poe and other authors; it costs $10, not including drinks), many great restaurants and cafes, wine tastings and great shopping. There's also a petting farm. If you're really brave, you can see the ruins of "Hell House," a former seminary that's rumored to be haunted.
Ocean City
Ocean City offers many fun things to do. There are great restaurants, fun stores, water parks, amusement parks, miniature golf and a lifeguard museum. There's a wax museum, horse racing and even skydiving. And if all that doesn't appeal to you, you can also head to the beach and work on your tan or enjoy the water.
St. Michaels
St. Michaels has a winery you can tour. There are several boutiques and shops, as well as many great places to eat. You can take a cruise and tour the area through the water, or there are walking tours. You can go fishing. There are also a few different spas you can visit, if you would like a day of pampering.
