Benimon Leads Towson Past Delaware 85-65
TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- Jerrelle Benimon had 21 points and 12 rebounds as Towson won its third straight game with a wire-to-wire 85-65 victory over Delaware on Wednesday night, sweeping the season series.
Benimon posted his 17th double-double of the season for the Tigers (13-12, 8-4 Colonial Athletic Association), who also defeated the Blue Hens 69-66 on Jan. 16.
Towson scored the first 11 points en route to a 33-23 halftime lead, then scored 52 second-half points on 69.2 percent field-goal shooting (18 of 26).
Delaware (11-12, 6-4) shot poorly, making only 9 of 30 field goals in the second half, a slight improvement over its 8-of-29 shooting in the first.
Jerome Hairston added 17 points, Marcus Damas 16 and Mike Burwell 12 for the Tigers, while Bilal Dixon grabbed 13 rebounds.
Devon Saddler's 20 points, including 10 of 10 free throws, led the Blue Hens (11-12, 6-4), whose three-game winning streak ended.
