Bear Spotted In Germantown & Gaithersburg
GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WJZ) -- Maryland officials say that a black bear has been spotted in the area of Middlebrook Road and Frederick Road in Germantown.
According to officials, a bear was seen in the area of Quince Orchard Road and Darnestown Road on Wednesday and early Thursday morning at Twelve Oaks Drive and Clopper Road.
DNR officials say that bear sightings in suburban areas aren't unusual during this time of year. The bears are usually not aggressive.
If you see a bear, you are advised to give it plenty of space. Don't feed the bear and take away any food sources by storing them in secure locations, such as a shed. Trash, birdfeeders and grills should also be stored in secure locations. You can scare bears away by making a lot of noise (shouting, using air horns, etc.).
