Ravens Win The Battle Of The Beltway
BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- Ravens fans left M&T Bank Stadium happy Thursday night after a 34-31 win against the Washington Redskins.
Meghan McCorkell has the story.
This was not a game you would leave early because it looked a little dicey until the last few seconds, but Thursday night, the game went to Baltimore.
The fans were out to support the Purple Power, but it was a nail-biter for both sides.
"It's the preseason. It's not the actual game yet," said one Ravens fan.
"I think that we need to play a little bit better. And I think Joe Flacco can play a little bit better," said another.
"Everybody in Washington knows, if you win two in a row, you're on a streak," said a Redskins fan.
Over at Pickles Pub, it was a full house for the Battle of the Beltway. The crowd was predominantly purple.
But on Cross Street, right in the shadow of the stadium, we found someone who crossed enemy lines.
"I've been a die-hard Redskins fan for about 30 years now," said Bruce Lee, owner of Bruce Lee's Chicken Wings.
Lee has taken the flack for his team loyalty.
"They say all kinds of stuff to me like, 'I won't be your customer anymore,'" he said.
"I'm a die-hard Ravens fan," said Bobby Strausser. "I had season tickets to the Colts. I bleed the colors."
For Bobby and Terri Strausser, the Ravens and Redskins are a perfect match.
"It was our first game as husband and wife, but we got married in our jerseys," Terri Strausser said.
The one thing they do agree on-- no Steelers fans allowed.
And, of course, everyone's hoping for a big Ravens win when the Steelers come to town Sept. 11. The Ravens open their regular season with that game.
