Teen Charged With Burglarizing Homes In Private Anne Arundel Community
RIVA, Md. (WJZ)—A teen is charged in connection to several burglaries in a private, waterfront community in Anne Arundel County.
Police say the 17-year-old walked off from a group home in Southern Maryland just a day before his nine-day burglary spree began in the Sylvan Shores Community.
Residents reported seeing the teen in the area.
A total of five homes were robbed of various items, including a 22 gauge rifle, a 9mm handgun, jewelry, electronics and money. The burglaries took place during the day and overnight hours, and some homes were occupied while the suspect broke into them.
The first burglary was reported Dec. 30. On Jan. 1, police recovered evidence in the community that linked the teen to the crimes. On Tuesday, the juvenile was found in a Baltimore City home and taken into custody without incident.
Detectives say they recovered evidence from the home the suspect was in, linking him to the burglaries in the Sylvan Shores Community.
The suspect has been charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of theft with additional charges likely.
