Baltimore Restaurant Week Offers Delicious Meals At Great Deals
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- If you enjoy a good meal at a bargain price, you'll like what starts Friday in Baltimore. It's restaurant week!
Ron Matz reports--it's the most delicious time of summer.
Soft shells and monsters from the Chesapeake Bay are just part of the restaurant week menu at Regi's in Federal Hill.
"We're geared up. We have plenty of staff. Plenty of soft shell crabs, plenty of servers. We're ready. Come on down," said Alan Morstein, Regi's American Bistro.
It's all local here, including beautiful vegetables from Regi's rooftop garden.
"For lunch we're doing a taste of the Chesapeake; it's all Chesapeake Bay items," Morstein said.
Restaurant week at Blue Grass in South Baltimore will feature fine food and specialty drinks.
"Restaurant week is a good way to display what we do," said Tim Dyson, executive chef at Blue Grass. "We do the same quality and preparations we normally do. It brings in new customers and definitely pumps up a week in the summertime that would normally be dead."
Delicious meals and great deals equal heaven for Baltimore foodies.
"It's really a good chance for people to get out and try a new place," said Megan Isennock, Downtown Partnership. "I think in Baltimore we hunker down in our neighborhoods. This really gives you the opportunity to go across town and try out a restaurant that has all the buzz and you haven't been to yet."
Morstein agrees.
"Restaurant week is an opportunity for restaurants to showcase their menus to people who might not necessarily come to their restaurants," he said. "It gives people an incentive to go outside the box so to speak and check out other restaurants and see what they do."
About 100 Baltimore restaurants are taking part in the big week. You're advised to make your reservations early.
"At dinner we bring out the big whale soft shells," Morstein said. "It's one of our more popular items. We serve them seven or eight months out of the year, and we put them out for restaurant week. They're big and tasty because we want you to come back after restaurant week."
Baltimore Restaurant Week runs from July 26 through August 4. For a complete list of the participating restaurants, click here.
