Baltimore Ravens Fans Are In A Purple Playoffs Frenzy
BALTIMORE (WJZ)— As the Ravens get ready to take on the Patriots, purple pride has hit fever pitch. All over Maryland fans are gearing up for the big game this Sunday.
Meghan McCorkell has more from the fan frenzy.
Just about everything in the city has turned purple, including the Washington Monument. Now Baltimore is sending a message to New England and Tom Brady.
On the ground, in the air and even online, all of Maryland has gone Ravens crazy.
More than 100,000 people have watched a crazed fan celebrate last week's win after a video went viral.
Now Baltimore City police are getting in on the purple pride with a video of their own.
At the Double T Diner in Perry Hall, it was a very purple lunch rush.
"Yes, I'm crying. I know. It's because I want them to win so badly," say Ravens fan Peggy Ford.
Some Ravens fans in Glen Burnie have turned their house into a tourist attraction.
"It's unbelievable. We've got people that stop, get out of their cars, take pictures, beep their horns as they go by," said Chad Andrews, home owner.
From logos painted on the lawn, a sign from the stadium, a larger-than-life player and enough purple lights you can see from miles away, Andrews' house on Point Pleasant Road in Glen Burnie is a purple paradise for Ravens fans.
He started doing this just last year, and it keeps growing.
"Plan on adding. Just every year, whatever. If they win, lose. I'm a huge fan. I will support them no matter what," Andrews said.
So whether they're decking their homes or singing the team's praises, Ravens fans are ready for a rumble in New England.
Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake has made a little bet on the game with the mayor in Boston.
Last week, she won the bet against the mayor of Denver, who was supposed to perform the Ray Lewis dance. He has yet to pay up.
