Baltimore Police Name Suspects In Serial Rape & Robbery Case
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Police say they've linked two men to a series of crimes, including rape, kidnapping and robbery.
Monique Griego has more on how Baltimore City and Baltimore County police worked to track them down.
The most recent attacks happened in Northwest Baltimore. Police say the men were mostly targeting young women and committed a lot of the crimes in broad daylight.
Authorities say 25-year-old Justin Campbell and 22-year-old Kenyon Waller are responsible for a violent crime spree that stretched from Baltimore County into Baltimore City.
"Waller and Campbell are dangerous people," said Chief Jim Johnson, Baltimore County Police.
On October 1 in Catonsville, Baltimore County Police say the men kidnapped a 17-year-old college student from a bus stop near Ingleside and Edmonson avenues. The woman was robbed, raped and then released. A second woman also reported a similar attack in the same area.
"The young women were forced into an SUV at gunpoint and driven to a nearby apartment, where Campbell forced her at gunpoint to perform several sex acts," said Johnson.
Both men were arrested after a third robbery in Northwest Baltimore City.
On Thursday, county and city police announced a joint investigation had linked them to five more robberies near Coppin State University and Mondawmin Mall.
"Two of those cases were actually abductions when they pulled the victims inside the vehicle," said Capt. Dan Lioi, Baltimore City Police.
And others happened in broad daylight.
"I walk these streets everyday. Never knew stuff like that happens around here," one man said.
Most of the victims were women waiting at bus stops or walking home from school. Police say many times the suspects would take their identification and tell the victim if they told anyone they'd come find them.
"That's surprising. It's kind of scary because I walk through here," a woman said.
Police say the suspects' vehicle and M-O helped link the cases. They believe more victims may be out there.
"We can't call the suspects' names but the things they did and the way they treated these young ladies is an outrage," said Commissioner Anthony Batts, Baltimore City Police.
In several cases, the suspects were driving a gold Ford Explorer. Police are now asking any possible victims to call them.
Waller and Campbell are both being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center without bond.
