Baltimore Police Searching For Clues In 15-Year Cold Case
BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- For 15 years family and police continue to search for answers in the brutal murder of a woman outside in broad daylight.
Marcus Washington has the details.
What happened to Dawn Destefano is still a mystery?
"This is the exact place my mother's life came to an end," said her daughter, Cristina Dawn Cucina.
On October 28, 2000 she was shot and killed in this alley in southwest Baltimore in the 800 block of Brunswick Street while attempting to purchase crack cocaine. For nearly 15 years her daughter continues to dig for answers with the hope.
"Somebody will remember this and maybe one of the people that were here or maybe someone saw more than they told in the past and ready to be brave enough to come forward now," said Cucina.
"Even if you think it's something small, that could still help put investigators on the right track to solve this case," said Jeremy Silbert, Baltimore City Police.
It's a case the Baltimore City Police continue to investigate. With few leads, police know the suspect seen running from the area is a female who could easily be mistaken for a man by her build.
"I don't like to wonder, it's driving me crazy wondering who killed her; so I want to know every detail that I can. The not knowing is the worst part," Cucina said.
Dawn's daughter says the day her mother was killed destroyed a part of her and she will not rest until she can find the answers to a nearly 15 year mystery.
"Your biggest fan is your mother and I don't have my number one fan anymore."
