Baltimore Plays To Aid Theater Arts In Japan Hit By 2011 Tsunami
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- It's been exactly one year since a massive earthquake and tsunami devastated parts of Japan. This weekend, Baltimore has taken center stage in an effort to help theater arts in that region.

"Face of Another" is one of three productions submitted by choreographer Naoko Maeshiba. Each is running at Center Stage downtown.
They are all part of an international effort to aid the theater district in Japan, impacted by the earthquake and tsunami one year ago.
"A consortium of theaters around the world are going to be holding events to benefit the theater community in Japan that's been affected by the disaster," said Kellie Mecleary, Dramaturgy Fellow.
The event is called "Sinsai: Theaters for Japan." Theater Communications Group (TCG) is the organizer.
"TCG put together a series of short plays that they made available to theaters to do readings of. We at Center Stage have decided to do something more like a video installation," said Mecleary.
Audiences and patrons have the opportunity to donate to the cause while viewing plays and listening to songs from American and Japanese artists.
All of the proceeds from these events are going to Japanese playwrights to help restore conditions surrounding the Japanese theater.
The production may be ending, but information is still available through Center Stage.
