Baltimore Man To Host Peace Rally In Wake Of City Violence
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A Baltimore man combats the recent spike in violence with a campaign of his own.
Marques Dent, a local community advocate and IT professional, is hosting a peace rally next Monday.
In the month of June alone, nearly 40 people were shot in Baltimore City.
Dent hopes the event will help to bring about solutions and resolutions for change.
"People committing these crimes need to understand that there is always another solution to gun violence," Dent said. "And our community needs to truly believe that it can say 'no' this will not happen – not in my household, not in my community and not my city! And that's what we need to stand on."
The rally will take place next Monday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Apples and Oranges Fresh Market, located at 1900 N. Broadway.
