Baltimore Man Killed When His Truck Rolls On I-70
NEW MARKET, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say a Baltimore man was killed when the truck he was driving hit a guardrail on Interstate 70 and rolled, ejecting him from the vehicle.
Elmer Smith, 41, was pronounced dead after being taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital.
The accident happened Monday about 11 a.m. Troopers say Smith was hauling a load of marble countertops west on I-70 when the front driver's side tire malfunctioned.
Police say Smith lost control of the truck, which rolled, ejecting Smith and sending large stone pieces onto the highway.
Troopers say Smith was not wearing a seat belt.
