Baltimore Man Gets Life In Prison In Cabbie's Slaying
BALTIMORE (AP) -- A Baltimore man convicted of first-degree murder in the slaying of a Frederick taxicab driver has been sentenced to life in prison, plus another 20 years for a handgun offense.
Twenty-four-year-old Robert Lee Murphy was sentenced Thursday in Baltimore City Circuit Court. Murphy was found guilty in the January 2009 shooting death of Stephen Mauk, who was found in his Yellow Cab Co. car in Baltimore.
Testimony revealed that 47-year-old Mauk had picked up his last known fare earlier that night in Frederick for what was to have been a one-mile trip. Murphy's first trial on the charges last year ended in a mistrial.
