Baltimore Gets Rare Visit From Harp Seal
BALTIMORE (AP) -- A seal that normally makes its home in the waters of the North Atlantic and Arctic oceans made its way to the Baltimore area this week.
The Baltimore Sun reports that a harp seal was seen Tuesday and Wednesday sunning itself on the end of a dock in Edgemere.
An official with the National Aquarium in Baltimore says harp seals do swim south along the East Coast from their home waters.
But they are rarely seen in the Chesapeake Bay.
The seal appears to be healthy, and officials plan to monitor the animal.
