Baltimore Festival Could Cause Traffic Delays
BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Maryland Transportation Authority is warning motorists to anticipate delays in Baltimore this week as an international maritime festival gets underway.
The "Star-Spangled Sailabration" kicks off Wednesday and runs through Tuesday. The festival is part of the bicentennial
commemoration of the War of 1812 and will feature more than 40 tall ships and navy ships of a dozen nations.
Organizers hope to attract more than 1 million people over the week.
State transportation officials say the event could result in major delays at the Fort McHenry Tunnel and along the Interstate 95/Interstate 395 corridor. The heaviest traffic is expected on Saturday and Sunday. Motorists headed into the city are advised to find alternate routes.
